At least three people have died and two have sustained injuries in an explosion in Gaibandha’s Gobindaganj upazila.
The deceased are Ahedul, 36, Sobhan Miah, 40, and Borhan Uddin Prodhan, 36.
The explosion occurred at 3:30pm on Wednesday at the house of Borhan Uddin in Mekurai Naya Para village under Kamardaha union.
According to locals, three/four strangers entered the house a couple of minutes before the incident. An altercation and gunshots were heard coming from the place and after a while a tin roofing sheet was blown off in a loud explosion.
Upon receiving the news, a team of the Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence rushed to the spot and cordoned off the house.

Additional Superintendent of Police Asaduzzaman said police had detained a number of suspects in this connection and their names would be disclosed later, reports UNB.
The Gobindaganj police station OC said details regarding the explosion could not be confirmed until the Criminal Investigation Department and explosives specialist teams arrived at the scene.
Meanwhile, Gaibandha Superintendent of Police Touhidul Islam said a team of policemen had been deployed to tighten security in the area.
