A policeman has been found dead on the roof of a police station dormitory in Pabna.
The deceased is Hasan Ali, 28, sub-inspector of Ataikula police station. He was from Baliadangi village of Keshabpur upazila in Jessore.
Hasan is suspected to have shot himself with his service pistol on the rooftop on Sunday morning, confirmed the district's Additional Superintendent of Police Masud Alam.
Hasan joined Bangladesh Police one and half months ago. Police are yet to find a motive for suicide, the additional superintendent said.
"We suspect that he took such a step due to an issue relating to a love affair. The SIM card of his mobile phone was found broken at the spot," he added, mentioning that a probe over the incident is underway.
