Comilla house fire kills mother, daughter

It is being suspected that the fire originated from an electric transmitter

A mother and daughter have died in a fire originated from an electric transmitter in Eliotgonj under Comilla's Daudkandi upazila. 

Four houses caught fire in the night and a mother and her daughter died inside one of them.

The fire broke out at 10pm on Tuesday at Bhelanagar village in Eliotgonj North union of Daudkandi upazila. A unit of fire service rushed to the spot and put out the fire within a short time. There were no injuries other than the two deaths.

The deceased were identified as Saleha Begum, wife of Mohammad Ali Bhuiyan of Bhelanagar village and her youngest daughter Farzana Akter.

Daudkandi police station OC Mohammad Nazrul Islam confirmed the incident and said primarily it is suspected that the fire broke out from an electric transmitter.

However, the house also has a gas cylinder. On this winter night, everyone in the family fell asleep early. They did not realize when the fire started and the mother and daughter were burned to death.
