An elderly man has been burnt to death as a deadly fire broke out at a slum in Chittagong city.
The fire started at 4am at the slum near CEPZ area, said the control room of Agrabad Fire Service and Civil Defence.
On information, nine firefighting vehicles rushed to the spot and doused the fire after three and a half hours of frantic effort.

Newton Das, deputy assistant director of Chittagong Fire Service and Civil Defence, said the fire gutted at least 50 shanties.
The victim, Naushad, 80, could not come out of the house due to his paralytic illness during the incident and died on the spot, he said.
Newton said they are investigating the reason behind the fire.
The extent of damage due to the fire could not be known immediately.
