Police have arrested a man for allegedly raping a seven-year-old girl in Narayanganj’s Fatullah area.
The incident happened in Patenga Field of Fatullah’s Masdai area around 11am on Thursday.
The arrestee is Abdul Mannan, 65, from Pirganj upazila of Thakurgaon district, who currently lives in a rented house in Masdai.
The girl was playing in front of her house when Abdul Mannan lured her with chocolate, took her to the nearby field and violated her, said the girl’s mother.
After noticing the incident, local rushed the spot, detained and beat up Abdul Mannan, and informed the police. Later, police arrested Abdul Mannan.

Meanwhile, on information, the girl’s mother filed a case with Fatullah police station, confirmed Officer-in-Charge (OC) Aslam Hossain.
The girl is undergoing medical tests at the hospital, said the OC.
Every day, more and more children in Bangladesh, both male female, are facing sexual abuse or becoming victims of rape.
In 2020, at least 974 child rape incidents were reported between January and November, according to the data of Ain o Salish Kendra. The highest number of child rapes (229) was recorded in October while the second highest (118) was recorded in November.
The total number of child rapes recorded in 2019 was 986, more than twice the numbers recorded in 2018 (444) and 2017 (470). The number was much lower in 2016 (280).
