A man with a disability and his brother have murdered the former’s wife and her lover after catching them together in Satkhira.
The deceased were identified as Fatema Begum, 40, wife of Sheikh Ahsan of Sripatipur village under Koila union of Kalaroa upazila, and Karim Parh, 30, son of Joynal Parh of Dhumghat Dakshinpara village under Shyamnagar upazila.
Both Sheikh Ahsan and his brother Sheikh Asad were arrested by police on Monday after Karim’s father filed a murder case with Satkhira Sadar Circle police station on Sunday, said Satkhira Sadar Circle Additional Police Superintendent Mirza Salauddin.
On Sunday morning, the bodies of Fatema Begum and Karim Parh were found hanging with towels and veils on a mango tree 50 yards away from Sheikh Ahsan’s house.
According to police, Sheikh Ahsan and his brother found Fatema and Karim alone together in a room on Saturday night. Enraged, the siblings used iron rods to beat them to death.
Subsequently, the brothers used the towel and veil to hang the bodies on the mango tree.
Both accused confessed to the murders. The murder weapon was recovered based on their confessions, police said.
