Police recovered a decomposed body of a woman from a house in Patnitala upazila of Naogaon on Friday afternoon.
The deceased is identified as Rosy Hasan, 45, wife of Mehedi Hasan, a resident of Puiya area under Najipur municipality of the upazila.
Police said the couple was living in a second-floor flat of a two-storey building in the area for the last 18 years and it was locked up for the last 10 days.
Being informed by other residents of the building that bad smell was coming out from the flat, police went to the spot and broke open the door.
They recovered the body hanging from a ceiling fan with a scarf around her neck.
The body was sent to Naogaon General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
The woman's husband remained missing since the incident.
Confirming the matter, Patnitala police station Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) Habibur Rahman said an unnatural death case has been filed in this connection.
