The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has rescued two students of Military Collegiate School Khulna (MCSK), hours after they were abducted by miscreants in Jhenaidah.
They also detained one Md Rakibul Islam, 25, in connection with the incident on Sunday afternoon, RAB 6 Commanding Officer Lt Col Rawshanul Firoz.
In an e-mail, the RAB official said two students of MCSK - a male and a female - went to visit the Jhenaidah Municipality Park in Mahishakunda area under Sadar upazila on Saturday afternoon.
A group of six to seven miscreants started harassing them in the evening. They abducted and confined the students to an abandoned house near the park.
They also beat the students up and snatched money from them.
Threatening to kill them, the miscreants demanded Tk1 lakh from the students for their release.

However, the miscreants were given some money through bKash by the families of the victims after they were informed about the incident.
The miscreants also tried to sexually harass the female student.
Later on, being informed by the school authorities, the elite police unit conducted drives and rescued the students at night.
The law enforcers also raided different areas of Jhenaidah on Sunday and apprehended Rakibul around 3pm, the RAB official said.
The female student filed a case with Sadar police station in Jhenaidah on the same day, he said.
Drives are on to detain other miscreants in connection with the incident, he added.
