Workers of a garment factory, Radisson Fashion Ltd, have blocked Tongi’s BSCIC regional road in protest against harassment of workers by their line chief.
The incident took place on Monday in front of the factory.
Three workers were injured when industrial police charged the workers with batons in a bid to clear the area.
Additional police have been deployed to control the situation.
The injured are operators Sunny Hossain, Asma Akhter and Romana Akhter. They have been given primary treatment at various local pharmacies.
Workers of Radisson Fashions Ltd, Ripa and Zaman, along with others said the line chief Solaiman had hired local miscreants to beat up a worker named Rony and harass women workers at various times outside the factory.
When the other workers came to know about the incidents they were outraged and demanded proper action against the line chief.

When the authorities took no action, the workers staged a sit-in at the main gate of the factory on Sunday. On the same day, the factory authorities declared that the factory would remain closed indefinitely.
On Monday morning again, workers protested in front of the main gate of the factory demanding Solaiman’s expulsion and justice for the assaulted workers.
Industrial police arrived at the scene and baton-charged the workers, injuring three of them. This enraged the workers, which led them to block the BSCIC regional road in front of the factory.
"No workers were beaten inside the factory, it was an outside incident," said Maqsood, an executive at Radisson Fashions Ltd.
The factory authorities decided to close the factory indefinitely as the workers went on strike illegally, he added.
Gazipur Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner of Intelligence (DB) Noor E Alam and Tongi zone Assistant Deputy Commissioner Shahdat Hossain reached the spot, listened to the workers and assured them of taking legal action against the accused Solaiman.
