Army soldier becomes victim of filicide

A Bangladesh Army soldier was hacked to death by his enraged father on early Friday in Bhola, following a domestic dispute between his parents. The mother and sister of the deceased Khalid bin Walid, 22, were also injured during the incident at Kanainagar village under Bhola sadar upazila. According to witnesses, the father and son had been at each other’s neck since Khalid’s homecoming form his workstation at Jessore Cantonment for Eid vacation on account of the physical abuse his father, Nur Mohammad, has been inflicting on his mother. Nur, a retired employee of the Bhola Water Development Board, took the dispute one step further by slaying his own flesh and blood on early Friday, Bhola Model police station Officer-in-Charge Meer Khairul told the Dhaka Tribune. Nur was arrested and Khalid’s body has been sent to the sadar hospital for autopsy.
