At least 43 people have been detained and 63 fined for not wearing mask and maintaining health guidelines in Khulna.
During a mobile court operation on the 10th day on Wednesday, a total fine of Tk26,500 was imposed in 63 cases.
In 10 days of the operation, 161 were detained, 231 cases were registered, and fined Tk95,650.
Khulna district administration Executive Magistrate (Media) Debashish Basak said mobile court operations were conducted in different parts of the city, including Daulatpur Bazar, on November 18 in preparation for a possible second wave of coronavirus infection.
He said that during the operation, masks were distributed to poor people without a mask. 43 were detained for not wearing mask and not wearing them properly, while 63 were fined Tk26,500.
These fines are imposed in accordance with the provisions of the relevant section of the Infectious Diseases (Prevention, Control and Eradication) Act, 2018, he added.
The mobile court operations were conducted by district administration Executive Magistrates Debashish Basak, Md Rakibul Hasan and Sharmin Jahan Luna.
Besides, mobile court operations were also conducted in different upazilas of Khulna for maintaining health guidelines.
Due to the recent increase in the rate of coronavirus infection, the district administration took a strict stand from November 9 in the wake of the decision of the district law and order committee meeting held on November 8.
