Police have arrested a youth from Kharki village of Mehendiganj upazila, Barisal for allegedly making derogatory remarks about Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) on social media platform Facebook.
Arrestee Sajal Shil, who was arrested on Tuesday afternoon, had posted derogatory remarks about the prophet through his personal Facebook account on Monday, police sources said.
“Sajal had hurt religious sentiment and fled the spot to avoid the wrath of the locals. However infuriated locals detained his father Shangkar Shill and handed him over to the police on Tuesday,” said Abidur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Mehendiganj police station.
“After the incident, we made several drives and detained Sajal. We released his father instantly,” added the OC.
