“The court took the allegation into cognizance on June 13. We have received the documents related to the court’s directives and Mayor Miru was dismissed as per the order of the ministry,” Local Government Division Deputy Director Abu Noor Md Shamsuddin told our correspondent in Sirajganj on Monday.
Abdul Hakim Shimul, Shahjadpur correspondent of the Daily Samakal, was shot allegedly by municipality mayor Halimul Haque Miru during a clash between two groups of the ruling Awami League on February 3.

He succumbed to injuries while being moved to Dhaka around 1pm the same day. Later on the day, Shimul’s wife Nurun Nahar filed a murder case against 18 people including Miru and his brothers Pintu and Mintu.
