A court in Tangail has sentenced six people to life in prison in a murder case that took place in 1998.
The Additional District and Sessions Judge Saud Hasan delivered the verdict on Thursday afternoon, 22 years after the murder of a certain Bahadur Khan.
The court also released six more people as their involvement in the case could not be proved beyond doubt by the prosecution.
The convicts, Wazed, Abul, Abdul Kader, Chan Khan, Shahid, Roop Chan were sent to jail after the verdict.
They were each fined Tk20,000, which would result in six more months of jail time if they failed to pay, confirmed S Akber Khan, state counsel of the court.
The convicts stabbed and hacked to death a person named Bahadur Khan in November 22, 1998.
