Advocate Abu Zahir, the lawmaker of Habiganj 3 constituency, has been tested positive for the coronavirus (Covid-19).
His samples were collected on Sunday and the reports arrived positive on Monday night, confirmed Sudip Das, personal assistant to the lawmaker.
Abu Zahir is currently undergoing treatment at home. Since the pandemic, he has been active in relief distribution works and Covid-19 awareness programs, said Sudip.
Fifteen more patients died from Covid-19 in 24 hours to Monday. According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the official fatality rate of the virus in Bangladesh is 1.45%.
