An accused in four cases, including a murder, was hacked to death by unidentified assailants at the Subgram Hat Durga Temple of Bogra early Monday.

The deceased was identified as Subrato Ghosh alias Samrat Das, 27, son of Kalipad Das, hailing from the Palpara area.

According to local sources, a group of miscreants hacked Subrato indiscriminately while he was returning home after visiting puja mandaps at 1am in the area, leaving him dead on the spot.

Subrato was the main accused of local transport workers’ leader Moniruzzaman Manik murder case.  He was also accused in three more cases including robbery and firearms, said police sources.

Sadar police station Officer-in-Charge Humayun Kabir said Samrat was a supporter of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).

Subgram UP chairman Abu Saleh also said Subrato was involved with BNP in 2011, but he had no involvement in politics  now.

He had a sand business in the area, he added.

Police are suspecting that he was killed over previous enmity.

Nobody could be arrested yet, said Humayun Kabir.
