2 arrested over indigenous woman's rape in Feni

One of the rapists took the woman to BSCIC road when a patrol team of police obstructed them over suspicious movement

Police on Monday arrested two men over reportedly raping an indigenous young woman in BSCIC industrial area of Feni district town.

The  arrested are: rickshaw puller Riyad, son of Md Sadeq, hailing from Lakshmipur and Chhoton Shil, a saloon employee and son of Samir Shill.

Adil Mahmud, officer-in-charge (operation) of Feni Model police station, said that a case was filed under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act with the police station in this connection.

According to the case statement, the 18-year-old woman, hailing from Rangamati, came to Feni from her sister’s house in Chittagong on Sunday night.

After getting down from a bus, she hired a rickshaw around 11pm.

The rickshaw puller took her  in front of a decoration shop in Dewanganj Muktar Bari area around 2am and raped her there. Afterwards, The rickshaw puller left her to Kathbella area near Salauddin intersection.

Finding the woman alone, Chhoton took her to a shop on the side of the culvert on the road to Fatehpur near Dewanganj assuring her of sending her to her destination. Later, he too raped her.

After the incident, Chhoton took her to BSCIC road when a patrol team of police obstructed them over suspicious movement.

During interrogation, the woman informed them about rape incidents. Later, police detained Chhoton and took her to the police station.

Following the statement of the woman, they also arrested the rickshaw puller.

Besides, the woman was sent to Feni General Hospital for a medical test on Monday afternoon, said OC Alamgir Alam of the police station.
