Ashikur Rahman Jubaer, a teenage football freestyler from Jhalakathi, has recently been recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records for the second time.
The Guinness Book of World Records has recognized his new record for doing 33 neck throws and catches with a football in 30 seconds.
“The Guinness Book of World Records authorities sent me an acknowledgment certificate in this regard on September 20.” said Jubaer on Friday.
Previously, the record was held by an Indian teenager named Tarun Kumar, who threw a football 29 times over his neck in 30 seconds.
Ashikur, son of Roksana and Jalal Ahmed, is a fourth-year honors student in the management department of Barisal Government Brojo Mohan College (BM College). He lives at Mosjid Bari Road in Sadar upazila of Jhalakathi .
Notably, he entered the Guinness World Records earlier in July by doing 65 neck throws and catches with a football in 60 seconds.
Speaking to Dhaka Tribune, Jubaer said: “I have been practising freestyle football for three years. I regularly practise it for two hours alongside doing my studies. Freestyle football is an art and I started it as a hobby. If I get sponsors, I can do better in the coming days. I can maintain my success if I get assistance from government and non-government organizations.”
His father Jalal Ahmed said: “No one achieves much success by playing. For this reason, I have told my son to be attentive to his studies. He has now set a world record for the second time. Don’t know what benefit will come of this recognition. But I want him to continue playing along with pursuing his studies.”
