Police have arrested a man for reportedly raping a fourth grader girl in Habiganj’s Shahartali area.
The arrestee is Nazir Miah, 40, of Lalchan village under Brahmanbaria Sadar upazila.
Police arrested him in a drive on Thursday night, confirmed Habiganj Sadar police station OC Masuk Ali.
Police and locals said that Nazir currently lives in Shahartali Richi village of Habiganj’s Shahartali and has a quilt and mattresses business. On Thursday around 8pm, he allegedly raped his next-door businessman’s daughter after calling her to his shop. At the time, hearing screams, locals rush to the spot while Nazir manages to flee from the scene.
The rape survivor was rescued and admitted to Habiganj Sadar General Hospital.
OC Masuk Ali added that Nazir is under police custody and was being questioned.
