Brahmanbaria ex-UP chairman sued for forgery

On October 4, six cases were filed with a Brahmanbaria court against four people including former UP Chairman Hossain Miah

Six cases have been filed against a former union parishad chairman of Sadar upazila for embezzling money through forgery, in the name of providing gas connections to customers.

The accused, Md. Hossain Mia, was elected chairman of Natai Dakhshin Union Parishad several times.

According to court sources, the cases were filed with Brahmanbaria Chief Judicial Magistrate court on October 4 against four people including Hossain Miah.

He was made prime accused in the cases.

The other accused in the cases are Shamim Mia, son of late Abdul Quddus, Farid Mia, son of Kalam Uddin and Mohammad Sohel Mia, son of Hossain Mia.

Advocate Swapan Ahmed, lawyer of the plaintiffs in the case, told reporters that the accused had embezzled a huge amount of money from people in the area in the name of providing gas connections.

Following the plaintiffs’ allegations, the court took cognizance of the cases and directed the Brahmanbaria Sadar Model police station to investigate the matter.

Sadar Model police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdur Rahim said police are yet to receive the documents linked to the cases. Police can begin their investigation as soon as they can get their hands on the documents.
