With the arrest of these two, a total of 11 people have so far been arrested in connection with the incident.
On September 2, a criminal gang forced into the woman’s house, tied up her husband in the next room and tried to rape her. When she defended herself, they stripped her naked, beat her up, violated and video recorded the whole thing – which later went viral on social media on Sunday.
Subsequently, the rape survivour filed a rape case against Delwar, chief of "Delwar Bahini", and his second-in-command Abul Kalam on Tuesday night at Begumganj Model police station.
Delwar and other members of "Delwar Bahini" broke into the house of the survivor on the night of September 2 and tortured her as she had repeatedly refused Delwar's immoral proposals earlier, the Begumganj Officer-In-Charge (OC) Harun-ur-Rashid Chowdhury said, quoting the case statement.
Delwar had raped the woman twice on gunpoint over the last year, while Abul Kalam had attempted to rape her once, according to the case statement.
Delwar, who is already in police custody, will be shown arrested in the rape case filed on Wednesday against him by the survivor under the Women and Child Repression Prevention Act, the OC said, adding that police were trying to arrest Abul Kalam.
