A woman was gang-raped in Lakshmipur district on Saturday night.
The incident took place at the district’s Ramgati upazila when miscreants broke into the woman’s house and reportedly raped her.
The survivor was later rescued by the police from the back of her house with her hands, legs, mouth, and eyes tied up, on Sunday morning.
Later on Monday, the 38-year-old rape survivor filed a case against five people with the Ragati police station over the incident.
Later in the day, police arrested Sohel and Jamal – two of the five accused – from the upazila’s Chor Pora Gacha village, confirmed Md Solaiman, Ramgati police station Officer-in-Charge (OC).
He said: “A case has been filed over the gang rape of a widow.

According to police and locals, the rape survivor – a mother of one – lived alone after her husband had died. The perpetrators had constantly harassed her. This resulted in a quarrel between the survivor and the preparators recently. Following this, they assaulted the woman, breaking her arms and legs.
A case was filed with the same police station over the incident. This enraged the accused who then on Saturday morning broke into the victim’s house and raped her taking turns.
