DU student rape case hearing adjourned till October 11

The student of Dhaka University was raped on the evening of January 5, and her father filed the case with Cantonment police station the following day

A Dhaka court has adjourned till October 11 the hearing of a case lodged over the rape of a Dhaka University student in the capital’s Kurmitola area.

Judge Begum Mosammat Kamrunnahar of Dhaka Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal 7 passed the order on Monday after examining three new prosecution witnesses in the case.

Eleven out of a total of 21 witnesses have testified in the case so far. The court framed charges against the sole accused Majnu on August 26.

Earlier, on March 16, Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) filed the charge-sheet on the case.

The student of Dhaka University was raped on the evening of January 5, and her father filed the case with Cantonment police station the following day.

On January 7, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) managed to detain the culprit Majnu and the victim later identified him.
