The High Court has again fixed Thursday to deliver its judgment on the rule over the compensation to Russel Sarker, who lost his leg after a bus of Green Line Paribahan ran him over on April 2018.

The High Court bench of Justice FRM Nazmul Ahasan and Justice KM Kamrul Kader fixed the date on Tuesday.

Earlier on September 23, the High Court was fixed September 29 for delivering its verdict on the ruling.

The same HC bench earlier fixed the date after concluding a hearing on the rule on March 5 this year.

Till now, the company paid Tk10 lakh compensation in two instalments, although they were to paid Tk45 compensation by this time. The company also had paid Tk3.5 lakh for treatment of Russel.

Earlier on June 25, the High Court asked Green Line Paribahan to pay a compensation of Tk5 lakh monthly as instalment to Rasel, to clear the remaining Tk45 lakh of compensation.

The court had also asked Green Line's lawyer to pay the money by the seventh of each month, and submit a compliance report by the 15th of each month.

On April 10, Green Line paid Tk5 lakh to Rasel, and the court allowed it one month's time to pay the remaining Tk45 lakh.

On March 31, the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court upheld the High Court order that had asked Green Line Paribahan authorities to give Tk50 lakh to Rasel.

On April 28 in 2018, a luxury Green Line coach rear-ended the car Rasel was driving. The accident occurred on the slope of Mayor Md Hanif Flyover in Dholaipar, and caused Rasel to step outside of his car to assess the damage.

Although he signalled the bus not to drive away, bus driver Kabir Hossain-- in his attempt to flee the scene-- ran over Rasel, severing his left leg from the thigh down in the process.

After being informed, police impounded the bus and detained Kabir from near the National Press Club.
