For the third day, migrant workers have gathered in front of the office of Saudi Arabian Airlines at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in Dhaka to secure return tickets to Saudi Arabia (KSA).

On Thursday morning, around 100 to 150 stranded migrant workers gathered in the area and vented out their frustration over failing to secure return tickets.

Hatirjheel police station Officer-in-Charge Abdur Rashid said the ticket seekers had been gathering at Karwan Bazar intersection since morning.

“Return tickets will be distributed for the first 500 tokens now [Wednesday],” he added.

Meanwhile, many of the migrant workers said they need to return to their workplaces in the Middle Eastern country immediately as their visas or work permits will expire in September or next month.

They are afraid of losing their jobs if they cannot join their workplaces in due time.

The OC said that adequate police members have been deployed in the area to avoid any untoward incident.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Rubayat Zaman of Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Tejgaon division said those with token number 501 to 850 will be given the tickets on Friday, 851 to 1200 on Saturday and 1201 to 1500 on Sunday.

Those who did not receive the token were asked to go to the office on Monday.
