Members of the Detective Branch of Police (DB) have arrested a man in Chittagong city on allegations of his marrying nine girls in nine years and embezzling a huge amount of money from them.
The 29 year-old Sulaiman was arrested from his house at Pahartali at around 11:30pm on Friday during a drive.
The drive was led by Additional Deputy Commissioner Abu Bakar Siddique and Assistant Superintendent of Police Golam Sarwar under the Detective Branch of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP), according to a press release issued by CMP.
Sulaiman was arrested after a victim’s mother filed a complaint against him with Pahartali police station.
Garment worker Solaiman, hailing from Barguna, developed relations with the young women by introducing himself variously as an officer of Bangladesh Police, Navy and Army. Later he married the girls and swindled money from them after marriage.
He also took a large amount of money in the name of giving jobs to his wives' brothers and sisters, the press release stated.
