A physically challenged transgender-- who identify herself as a woman has reportedly been raped by her neighbour in Keshabpur upazila, Jessore.
The incident took place on Tuesday afternoon in Dharmapur village of the upazila.
The accused, Momin Sarder, 45, is the son of Arshad Ali Sarder of the same village, local sources confirmed.
He was arrested on Wednesday after the filing of a case in this regard, confirmed Jashim Uddin, officer-in-charge of Keshabpur police station.
Quoting her family sources, the police officer said, the woman was forcibly taken by Momin to a nearby crop field and raped.
After she returned home, as her family members could not stop her bleeding, they took her to the Keshabpur Hospital.
“As her condition worsened, she was then taken to the Jessore General Hospital,” the OC said.
“The suspect, Momin confessed to his crime before the court on Thursday and was sent to jail afterwards,” added the OC.
