A seven-year-old child has been raped in Padmadi village of Shailkupa upazila of Jhenaidah, on Monday morning.
The girl has been admitted to Shailkupa upazila and referred to Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital for a medical test.
The main accused, Mohammad Ashiq, a 20-year-old college student of Padmad village in the upazila, remains absconding following the incident.
According to relatives of the victim, Ashiq raped the child finding her alone inside his house when the she went to fetch some fish kept in the fridge of her neighbour Alamgir Hossain, who is Ashiq’s father.
When the victim came home and told her parents about the incident, she was taken to Shailkupa Upazila Health Complex for treatment.
Regarding the matter, Shailkupa police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Jahangir Alam said: “Family members of the victim girl came to the police station. However, so far they have not lodged a written complaint. An operation is underway to arrest the person involved.”
