Rapid action Battalion (RAB) has arrested the expelled UP chairman Md Kabir Ahmed -- prime accused of the Mobarak murder case in Brahmanbaria.
He was arrested from Sindurkhan area under Srimangal upazila of Moulvibazar around 7:30pm on Sunday.
Squad Commander of RAB-9 Srimangal Camp Somen Mojumder said: “On information that the expelled Birgaon Union Parishad (UP) chairman Kabir Ahmed of Brahmanbaria Nabinagar Upazila, also the main accused of a murder case, was hiding here, we conducted a drive and arrested him from Sindurkhan area."
“He was running a stationery store here, by keeping his identity secret.”
Kabir has several other cases filed against him, the RAB official added.
In April, amid the lockdown, Mobarak was brutally killed and his body dismembered with slogans of “Joy Bangla” in Thanakandi village under Krishnanagar union of Nabinagar upazila.
On May 28, the prime accused in the murder, Kabir Ahmed, was expelled by order of the Local Government Ministry for alleged irregularities in the prime minister's one-time payment list of Tk2,500 among the poor affected by coronavirus.
