Another murder case was filed on Sunday against suspended Teknaf police station officer-in-charge Pradeep Kumar Das, an accused in a case filed over the murder of Major (retd) Sinha Md Rashed Khan.
Nur Nahar of Teknaf's Hoaikong area filed the case with the Court-3 of Senior Judicial Magistrate Helal Uddin, said Julkarnine Zillu, lawyer of the plaintiff.
She filed the case against 13 people, including 12 police personnel in connection with the death of her brother Mizanur Rahman, who was killed in what police said was a gunfight.
Julkarnine Zillu said the victim Mizanur Rahman would run a business of mobile banking. On April 5, police detained Mizanur from the Teknaf Upazila Parishad Mosque Market. Later a team of police went to Mizanur’s home and demanded Tk2,000,000 from his family. The police members also vandalized Mizanur’s home.
Family members somehow managed Tk200,000 and gave it to police. When the family members refused to pay the rest amount, Mizanur was shot dead at 11:45pm, he said.
Later, the accused passed off the incident as a gunfight, said the lawyer.
Mizanur Rahman’s sister Nur Nahar demanded justice over the incident.
