The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-4 has detained a human traffic ring leader and rescued three women from Aminbazar in Savar.

Being informed by some previous victims of the gang, a team of RAB-4 conducted a drive in the area on Tuesday night and rescued three young girls from the arrestee’s home.

The arrestee has been identified as Shirajul Islam Shiraj, 42, a resident of Jessore.

Confirming the incident, Unu Mong, Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police, said promising employment opportunities to young women, the human trafficking syndicate deceived them and later forced them into prostitution abroad.

“We had long been trying to catch the ring leader of the syndicate and finally we caught him red-handed. We have lodged a case against Shiraj with Savar Model police station,” the RAB-4 official said.
