Two large Bagha Ayer fishes weighing around 43kg, and 25kg were netted respectively from the Padma and the Jamuna in Rajbari and Tangail.
In Rajbari, fish wholesalers Md Shahjahan Sheikh and Nuru Sheikh bought the 43kg Bagha Ayer at Tk49,000 after fisherman Anand Hawlader caught it from the Padma on Monday.
Md Shahjahan said he made a profit of Tk6,900 by selling the fish to another trader.
In Tangail, fishermen netted a 25kg Bagha Ayer and later kept it on display at the Gobindashi Ghat area of Tangail's Bhuapur upazila.
Locals said Tk30,000 was asked for the fish in the local market, where many admired its size.
