India’s Border Security Force (BSF) has picked up the dead body of an unknown man from Sharsha border area of Benapole.
Locals said they saw the dead body lying along the border on Monday morning.
Afterwards, officials from the BSF’s Bashghata camp picked up the body in the presence of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Bangladeshi police personnel, said Alamgir Hossain, a local farmer in the area.
Confirming the incident, Badrul Alam, officer-in-charge of Sharsha police station, said: “We went to the spot to recover the dead body. However, as the body was lying along the Indian border, the BSF picked it up.”
“We could not identify whether the deceased was Bangladeshi or Indian,” added the officer.
Agreeing with him, Subedar Shahid of Dhankhola BGB camp said the personnel in the camp could not identify the deceased person either.
