Policeman dies of Covid-19 in Tangail

His death makes it the first case in Tangail police related to the novel coronavirus

A police constable tested positive for Covid-19 on August 12, 18 days after he died at the Rajarbagh Central Police Hospital, Dhaka on Sunday from the deadly viral disease.

The deceased Sadhan Chandra Barman, 42, who worked at Gopalpurpolice station in Tangail, hailed from Saturiaupazila of Manikganj, confirmed Shahinul Islam Fakir, additional superintendent of police in Tangail

He left behind a wife, two sons and a host of relatives.

Gopalpur police station Officer-in-Charge Mostafizur Rahman said Sadhan Chandra was admitted to Tangil General Hospital at first. As his condition deteriorated, he was sent to Rajarbagh Central Police Hospital on August 14, where he died on Sunday morning.

His death makes it the first case in Tangail police related to the novel coronavirus, he added.

Meanwhile, hundreds of police personnel tested Covid-19 positive in the district and now have made full recovery, according to police sources.
