Miscreants tried to rape and kill an activist of the Women's Rights Project, daughter of a heroic freedom fighter from Hariharpur village in Rahimanpur union of Thakurgaon Sadar upazila.
At around 2:30pm on Thursday, the woman was severely injured after several members of her family severely beat her up and attempted to rape and kill her.
Hearing the news, her brother rescued her with the help of Sadar police and admitted her to Sadar hospital.

On Friday night, she alleged that about 20 people including Jagdis, Vivekkanth, Naren, Giren, Subas, and Ashok grabbed her by the throat, beat her with sticks, and dragged her out of the house with the intention of raping and killing her. The miscreants were taking revenge for previous conflicts.
She further said that the miscreants had tortured her many times before and a case was also filed against them. Now she demands trial and severe punishment.
Thakurgaon Sadar police station Inspector (Investigation) Golam Mortuza said the police went to the spot and rescued the survivor and admitted her to the hospital.
He said: “If they file a complaint with us, legal action will be taken in light of the complaint.”
The victim worked in the Human Welfare Council's project to ensure equality and rights for men and women, but she is now the victim of torture. She is currently undergoing treatment at Thakurgaon sadar hospital.
