Police have arrested two men for attempting to rape a teenage YouTuber inside a bus in Gazipur.
The arrestees are bus driver Al Amin, 29, son of late Jahirul Islam from Kurikahunia village under Shribordi upazila of Madaripur district, and bus helper Mujibur Rahman, 22, son of late Mojaharul Islam from the same village.
They used to live in a rented house in Ithata area in Gazipur city and work for Anabil Super Paribahan Service.
Officer-in-Charge of Bason police station under Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP) Rafiqul Islam said: “The 18-year-old, who is a YouTuber, got into a Gazipur bound bus of Anabil Super Paribahan Service from Narayanganj Signboard area and was going back home to Uttara Housebuilding area around 11pm on Saturday."
“The bus dropped all the other passengers and took her to Gazipur’s Naojor area instead of dropping her in Uttara Housebuilding area. After parking the bus in a secluded area, the driver and helper attempted to rape her.”
As the girl screamed, locals came forward to help. They detained the bus driver and the helper and also beat them up. Later, on information, police arrived the scene and arrested the duo, he added.
On Sunday, the girl filed a case against the two with Bason police station.
