Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has shot a Bangladesh national dead after he entered Indian territory near Shingnagar border in Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj.
The incident took place around 8:30pm on Sunday.
The deceased is Sumon, 22, a resident of Morolpara village under Monakosha union in the upazila.
Shahadat Hossain Khurrum, chairman of Monakosha union parishad (UP), said a group of people including Sumon, went to India near the demarcation pillar number 179 to bring cattle heads.
A patrol team of Daulatpur BSF camp opened fire on them when Sumon received bullet-wounds, he said.
Other associates of Sumon rescued and brought him inside the Bangladesh border and he died later, the UP chairman added.
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Battalion 53 Commanding Officer Lt Col Mohammad Suruj Mia could not be reached over mobile phone for comments on the matter.
