Another policeman has died of the Covid-19 infection, raising the death toll of Bangladeshi policemen due to the pandemic to 67.
The deceased was Mohammad Sumon Ali, the officer-in-charge of Baraigram Police Station in Natore.
He was admitted to Central Police Hospital at Rajarbagh with coronavirus symptoms on August 2. He was kept in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for treatment. Later, when his condition deteriorated, he was put on life support.
He breathed his last on Friday morning, according to a press release by police headquarters.
Sumon joined the police force as a sub-inspector on September 24, 2008.
He hails from Daulatpur village in Shibganj upazila under Chapainawabganj district. He is survived by his wife and a daughter.
The body was sent to the village home under the management of Bangladesh Police. The body was buried in the family graveyard in the presence of senior police officers.
