Md Khairul Islam, assistant superintendent of police has been appointed as the new investigating officer (IO) in the murder case of Major (retd) Sinha Md Rashed Khan.
Khairul Islam, also a member of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-7, replaced the earlier investigating officer of the case, Jamilul Haque, assistant superintendent of police RAB-15.
Lieutenant Colonel Ashik Billah, director of RAB' Law and Media wing told Dhaka Tribune.
Ashik said the new investigating officer gained a reputation as an IO by showing professionalism and discretion in handling several sensational cases in the past.

The new IO Khairul Islam is leading the interrogation of four accused policemen and three other suspects in connection to the murder case of Major Sinha.
Four accused policemen are constables Safanur Karim, Kamal Hossain, Abdullah Al Mamun and assistant sub-inspector Liton Miah and the three other suspects are Nurul Amin, Nijam Uddin and Md Ayas.
