One hundred families of Samanta village in Jhenaidah’s Moheshpur upazila are suffering after some local influential people constructed a house on a public road.
Sources said one Sanwar Hossain, son of Latif Shwarnakar and two sons of Latif Bepary—Kalam and Abul—are illegally building a house on a public road after occupying it. The road stretches from Samanta Gopalpur mouja to Shatnalpara.
This move is causing major inconvenience to about 100 local families, who are now forced to use an alternative road for communication.
Residents said they are living like prisoners as Sanwar, Kamal and Babul have built a house and sanitary latrine by blocking the road.
Already, Hafiz Al Asad, assistant commissioner (land) of the upazila, has ordered to stop the construction work after getting complaints but they did not pay any heed to the order.
Sujon Sarkar, Maheshpur upazila land officer, said another notice will be sent to them to stop the construction work.
