A former public prosecutor (PP) of Sirajganj district court died of Covid-19 on Thursday night.
The 70-year-old veteran Rotarian, Rezaul Karim, passed away at Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital while he was undergoing treatment at the hospital for about a month.
Abdullah Al Kayes, general secretary of the district's volunteer group confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.
Rezaul is to be laid to rest at Malsapara Cemetery in Sirajganj town after Jummah prayers on Friday.
Ikbal Hossain Mahmud Tuku, member of the permanent committee of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), Begum Rumana Mahmud, president of the district unit of the BNP, and other leaders and activists of the party have expressed deep shock at the passing of Rezaul.
