A professor at Chittagong University (CU) died of Covid-19 while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the city on Thursday.
The deceased Shafiul Alam Tarafdar, 54, was a professor of the mathematics department. His father was also a professor of mathematics.
Confirming the matter to the Dhaka Tribune, Professor SM Monirul Hasan, registrar of Chittagong University said that Shafiul Alam Tarafdar died of Covid-19 while undergoing treatment at the city’s Parkview Hospital.
Contacted, Dr ATM Rezaul Karim, managing director of Parkview Hospital said that the university teacher breathed his last at 9:30pm while undergoing treatment at the hospital.
“The teacher had been receiving treatment at the Intensive Care Unit for nearly a month,” said Dr Karim.
