Following the killing of retired Army major Sinha Md Rashed, the army and police have decided to patrol Cox’s Bazar’s Marine Drive jointly from now on.
The army and police chiefs issued necessary instructions to their respective forces over the incident, said a press release issued by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Thursday.
The decision was taken to bring back normalcy to the area and to bring back the trust of the public in the security forces.
On Wednesday, during a joint press conference at the Army Bungalow in Cox's Bazar, Chief of Army Staff General Aziz Ahmed and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed stressed that the killing of retired Bangladesh Army major Sinha Md Rashed Khan was an “isolated incident” and it would not create a rift between the two forces.

The duo went to Cox’s Bazar to investigate the death of Maj (retd) Sinha Md Rashed Khan, who was killed in a police firing at Baharchara police outpost on July 31.
They hoped to punish the perpetrators involved in the incident and not blame the entire force.
Both the army and police expressed grievance and condemned the incident. The police force assured the army that this was the last time such an incident ever took place.

The army chief said a joint inquiry team had been formed at the behest of the prime minister.
Two people were arrested and two separate cases were filed in this regard, Superintendent of Police ABM Masud Hossain said on Saturday.
The Home Ministry formed a four-member committee, headed by Mizanur Rahman, additional divisional commissioner (development), on August 2.
The authorities on Sunday suspended 21 police officers, including the in-charge of Baharchara police outpost, in connection with the killing.
