Families of 2000 sex workers recieved meat of Qurbani ( sacrificial animal slaughter) on the day of the Eid-ul-Azha by a initiative of Uttoron Foundation, an organization of a police member, in Rajbari.
After recieving the gift on Saturday from the hands of the law enforcers, sex workers from the Daulatdia brothel in Rajbari's Goalanda upazila said this is the first time they had recieved the meat of Qurbani. They said despite having a license for their work they are not allowed a namaz-e-janaza after death.
They also said that they will forever remember the act of love police showed as they have already been suffering from income shortage due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Rajbari Superintendent of Police (SP) Md Mizanur Rahman, Goalandaghat police station officer-in-charge Md Ashikur Rahman and Inspector Abdullah AL Tayabir were present at the distribution program.
SP Md Mizanur said: "Chairman of Uttoron Foundtion and Dhaka range police DIG (Deputy Inspector General) Habibur Rahman gifted 1kg of meat to each of the 2,000 sex workers families of Daulatdia brothel."
