Defected extremist Iqbal Huzur shot dead

A former member of an extremist group has been shot dead by unidentified assailants near Daulatpur in Khulna city. The deceased Iqbal Sarwar alias Iqbal Huzur, 48, worked for an insurance company after leaving the Tiger Khokon Gang. Tiger Kokhon, too, had been shot dead. Daulatpur police's Office-in-Charge (OC) Md Anwar Hossain said the incident took place near Minakhsi Cinema Hall around 8pm on Friday. “The attackers came on two motorcycles and shot Iqbal in the chest, arm and back when he was on the phone,” the OC said. “He died on the spot.” Neither the identities of the attackers nor their motives could be known yet. Iqbal’s body is kept at the Khulna Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy, the OC added.
