Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Sunday evening detained the prime suspect of a quadruple murder who said he killed four of a family, including an 8-year-old girl, after being refused Tk200.
Sagar Ali, 27, during a primary investigation confessed to his crimes after he was detained from Brahmanbari area of Tangail's Madhupur upazila.
Major Abu Nayem Md Talat, company commander of RAB-12 confirmed the incident to Dhaka Tribune.
Quoting the detained, Major Talat said: "One of the deceased, Osman Gani, was a microlending trader. The accused Sagar Ali had failed to pay interest on his borrowed money to Gani several times."
On Tuesday, Sagar again went to Gani's home to borrow Tk200. Gani expressed his disappointment and told Sagar to leave. Due to this, Sagar murdered Gani and three members of his family and plundered his house early Wednesday assisted by one other, said Major Talat.

On Wednesday, Gani allowed Sagar and his associate to enter his home, when Sagar initially used chemicals to knock the family unconscious and used an axe to slit their throats, said Major Talat.
On Friday, police recovered the bodies of Gani Miya, 45, his wife Kajiron alias Buchi, 37, and their son Tajel, 17, and daughter Sadia, 8, from their house in the Masterpara area of Madhupur upazila. Gani's elder daughter Soniya filed a case at Madhupur police station against unidentified people on the same day.
Later on that day police took three people in custody for questioning them about the murder.
