Police arrested a man in Sadar upazila of Natore on Friday, in a case filed for attempting to plant yaba pills on a tourist after introducing himself as a member of the Detective Branch(DB) of Police.
The arrested, identified as Shahin Alom, 28 lives in Fulbagan village of the upazila, said Sadar police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Jahangir Alom.
According to the case statement, a group of tourists from Rajshahi came to Natore on Friday morning on motorcycles in order to visit Halti Beel in Naldanga upazila which is locally known as "Mini Cox's Bazar".
When the tourists were returning from the spot, one of them fell behind pace on the road before Uttara Ganabhaban.
Taking advantage of the situation, Shahin Alom intercepted the biker by introducing himself as a member of DB and he started to conduct a search on him.
Upon being informed over the phone, other members of the group came to the spot and one of the tourists named Imtiaz Dipon streamed the search on Facebook live .
At one point, the tourists caught Shahin while trying to plant drugs on their companion in the name of the search.
