A teenager has been beaten to death allegedly by his employer in Tongi.
Police arrested the owner of the shop where Tomal, 14, used to work and one of the teenager’s friends after his mother filed a complaint with Tongi police on Wednesday night.
Shop owner Ahsan Ullah, 32, and Tomal’s friend Nazmul Mia, 14, have refuted the allegation of torturing Tomal.
Apon Babu, the victim’s brother, said that Tomal used to return from work around 11pm. Their mother called Tomal on mobile phone on Wednesday night since he was late.
“Around 11:15pm, his friend Nazmul and shop owner Ahsan informed us that his body had been found inside an under-construction building,” Apon said.
Locals rushed him to Tongi General Hospital where the doctors pronounced him dead.
Tomal’s mother Hujura Begum named Ahsan as the prime suspect in her compliant. An influential clique had been lobbying for the detainees’ release, she alleged.
Ahsan told reporters that one of his friends had informed him about his employee being found lying in an under-construction building.
“I informed his relatives and went to the spot,” he claimed. “I do not know anything else.”
Tongi police’s Sub-Inspector Siddiqur Rahman said that the victim had injury marks in the head.
