BSF attempts to push in 12 people along Brahmanbaria border

A flag meeting was held between BGB and BSF on Saturday evening

The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) tried to push a group of 12 people into Bangladesh along the border of Kasba upazila of Brahmanbaria.

However, the attempt was foiled by Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) on Saturday.

They have now been made to stay in an abandoned house at Zero Line near the 2039/12-S Pillar for two days.

BGB-60 (Sultanpur) Battalion Commander Lt. Col. SM Mehedi Hasan, said the 12 people are not citizens of Bangladesh. “As they came from India, it can be assumed that they are citizens of India. The BSF has been asked to take them away from the border area."

BGB has been asked to remain alert, he added.

A flag meeting was held between BGB and BSF on Saturday evening. BGB Kasbar Company Commander Subedar Karim Uddin Pradhan, led the flag meeting on behalf of Bangladesh and Kamalesagar BSF camp inspector Pravesh Kumar led the BSF on behalf of India.

BSF claimed that the 12 people were Bangladeshi nationals, but BGB rejected the BSF's claim, saying they were Indian nationals as they were staying in India.

The BGB also asked the BSF not to push them in any way.
