At least five killed in road accidents in Dinajpur, Bogra, Rajshahi and Natore on Friday.
In Dinajpur, an elderly man was killed in a head-on collision between two motorcycles in Haji intersection area in Chirirbandar upazila.
The deceased, identified as Naresh Chandra Nath, 60, lived at Durgapur village in Parbatipur upazila, confirmed Subrata Kumar Sarkar, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chirirbandar police station.
Meanwhile, a brick kiln worker was killed after a truck ran over him at Dumail area in Nawabganj upazila.
The deceased, identified as Shiblar Hasda, 50, was from Khayerkhuni Kathapara village of the upazila.
Confirming the matter, Nawabganj police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ashok Kumar Chowhan said: "Police detained the truck driver Moklesur Rahman and helper Mostafizar Rahman."
In Bogra, a truck driver was killed in a head-on collision between two trucks at Mohipur in Sherpur upazila.
The deceased, identified as Ashraf Ali, was the resident of Manikdwipa village of Shajahanpur upazila of the district.
Sherpur Fire Service and Civil Defence Station Officer Ratan Hossain said: A mango laden truck collided with a lentil laden truck, the driver of the latter died on the spot.
In Rajshahi, a cargo-hauling trolley driver was killed and two of his assistants were injured after a bus collided head-on with their vehicle in the Alimganj area of Rajshahi's Paba upazila.
The deceased was identified as Kawsar Ali, 22, of Kahidanga area of Rajshahi city.
Damkumra police station OC Mazharul Islam of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police confirmed the matter.
The trolley was hauling a brick-laden cart when a bus of Hanif Paribahan collided with the vehicle killing Kawsar on the spot, said OC Mazhar.
One of the injured is undergoing treatment in Rajshahi Medical College Hospital in a critical condition, added OC Mazhar.
In Natore, a man was killed after a trolley carrying him overturned and the cargo it was hauling fell over him in Naldanga upazila.
The deceased was identified as Jony, the trolley driver's assistant, confirmed Naldanga police station OC Nazrul Islam Mridha.
Liton, a local, said Jony was severely injured after the trolley overturned and the bamboos it was carrying fell on him at the Basudebpur Chakpara area of the upazila. "The man died while locals were taking him to a hospital."
